An experimental study for the repari of fractured P.F.M. crown by composite resin


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of two composite resins available for porcelain repair according to the four differently treated metal surfaces.
The composite resins used in this study were Clearfil (KURARAY Co., JAPAN) and BIS-FILO (BISCO INC., U. S. A. ) which were polymerized by visible light.
For the experiment, forty metal specimens were cast with Verabond (Aalba DENT. INC., U.S.A.) and divided into four groups according to the surface treatment of metal specimen as follows. :
Group ¥° ; body porcelain was build up & fired.
Group ¥± ; opaque porcelain was build up & fired.
Group ¥² ; Naked alloy : grinded by diamond bur
Group ¥³ ; Naked alloy : grinded by diamond bur with EZ-oxisore
The number of specimen was five for each group, and the total of specimen were forty. The test method to estimate the bond strength of test specimens was tension test by Tensilon (Togo Baldwin Co., Ltd., JAPAN).
The results of this study were obtained as follows. :
1. In the bond strength of ClearfilO, group IV showed the greatest bond strength as 642.2 178.9 psi, and group I as control group showed 359.264.5 psi, group I showed 337.489. 1.psi, group 0 showed 449.079.4 psi. There was significant difference b-ptween four differently treated metal specimens.
2. In the bond strength of BIS-I~ IL`s, grog I showed the greatest bond strength as 457.2 139.6 psi, and group Lff, as control group showed 361.0--74.8 psi, group Q showed 370.0-116. 6 psi, group Ir showed 4.10. -¢¥-79.4 psi. There was no significant difference between four differently treated metal specimens.
3. On the comparison of bond strength between Clearfil & BIS-FIL in each group, BISFIL was greater in the group [ , I whereas Clearifillt was greater in the group 1V, but there was significant difference only in the group N.
